National Pollinator Week

National Pollinator Week has been designated as June 16-22, 2014 by The Pollinator Partnership and the United States Department of Agriculture. The Pollinator Partnership is an organization that is raising awareness for the declining pollinator populations.  Pollinator week focuses attention on bees, birds, butterflies, bats and beetles. These amazing creatures pollinate over 75% of our flowering plants and 75% of our crops. Without these industrious animals we wouldn’t have many of our fruits, vegetables, nuts and, most important of all; coffee and chocolate!

Readorium and Rising Reader both have wonderful books and magazine articles on these topics.  These include Beetlemania, The Buzz About Bees, and Spider Stories, and Bee-Behavior.  For more information about pollinators and National Pollinator Week, please visit… http://pollinator.org/

Happy Reading!
